Summary
Batman has had something stolen from him. Penguin has had something stolen from him too. Will Batman reclaim it? Will Penguin survive? Or will there now be a massive fight to the death? Will anyone’s masterful plans actually happen? Can there be friendship amongst the criminally unhinged? Does anyone truly know, “The Help?” Has Batman met his match? Thoughts and Review
I haven’t read a graphic novel in years and this was an awesome choice. The art was absolutely fantastic and the story exciting. It wasn’t difficult at all to get into the folds of the story without having read any other Batman graphic novels. However, there was little slices of curiosity created when you saw segments that were more than just the present story. Batman is such a continuous world that the story will live forever with more details and subplots emerging. New characters, encounters with old characters, and new stories can always be found. This book was no exception. With each fight and explosion the reader can be immersed in a fantastical exciting world.
I found that the pages flew by quickly as my attention was seized by the action on the pages and the art included. Graphic novels are an awesome experience to behold when you have an active imagination. They are the books we imagined as children where the graphics are exactly what we would want to picture at that exact moment. A moment where the fan and creator are exactly on the same page. This one was a great example of how brutal a Batman story could be but also how insatiably determined to overcome Batman as a character is.
Recommendation
I would recommend this graphic novel to all and any Batman fans. It was of a violent nature so viewer discretion is advised. Definitely for the adult or teen fan not a juvenile reader. This would be a great graphic novel if you are looking for one that you can read quite quickly. It was incredibly fast paced with so much happening with such beautiful art that the two-hundred-and-eight pages passes quickly. A real treat are the variant covers and art located at the back of the book. This book would be great to have in mind when you are in a discussion of the epic qualities of Batman. The book provides a great example of just how much a rebel like dark hero Batman can be while highlighting his physicality. Happy Reading!
