On Monday, we talked about how Stacy-Ann Buchanan’s belief that wellness is a birthright, not a reward for a long week of work can shift our mindset about mental health. I also mentioned how we have to shift from an idea of a balanced life to create one where everything is in harmony instead. But how exactly do we create this shift and start believing in our own lives? It starts with the stories we tell ourselves.

What you believe about yourself is either your fuel or your cage
– Tony Robbins

If love is a verb, then affirmations are the internal action. They aren’t just fluffy feel good quotes; they are a concrete way we can rewire our brains to shift our perspective moving out of survival (exist) mode and back into our own power! Combine them with movement like walking, running, or on the elliptical now you have supercharged them and turned them into Mantras!

Five Types of Affirmations

  1. Believe: I am enough.
  2. Accept: I deserve peace.
  3. Release: I let go of what I can’t control.
  4. Honour: My boundaries are love.
  5. Grow: I am a work in progress.

The 5 Affirmations for your
Week 1 “Soul Work”

  1. I am enough, exactly as I am. The Action: Stop the “I’ll be happy when…” cycle. You are worthy of love before you cross a single thing off your to-do list.
  2. I am the architect of my own peace. The Action: You get to decide what energy stays in your space and what needs to go.
  3. My boundaries are an act of love, not an act of war. The Action: Saying “no” to others is often a big “yes” to your own mental health.
  4. I deserve the same grace I so freely give to others. The Action: Be your own best friend today. Forgive the mistakes and celebrate the tiny wins.
  5. Wellness is my birthright, and I claim it today. The Action: Whether it’s five minutes of breathing or a full yoga session, you are allowed to prioritize yourself.

Real Life Insight:

Monday afternoon while at my son’s curling practice I had a few enlightening conversations with people on threads about the power of saying no, boundaries, and making changes to take back their story. All the conversations were so on the nose with everything I have been working on lately. Just think it is not just YOU thinking you need to take this step. There are strangers EVERYWHERE taking the stand too!
