Now that you have created some kick ass vibes for yourself you need to move from seeing the vibe to actually living it. Now before you freak out there are three great ways to set this in motion. I have divided the tools into three sections: making goals flexible, how to visualize, and handling pressure spikes. Remember not every tool or suggestion works for everyone. So take and use what works for you and toss out the rest. Remember! No pressure!

Making Goals Flexible

First step of making a goal flexible is to use the “range” method. Instead of “I will write 1,000 words,” try “I will spend 15-45 minutes in my creative space.” Instead of “I will get up at 6am every day this month,” try “I will get up at 6am 5-15 times this month.” The point is to create a range to fall between and remember… it is a total win if you hit the bottom of the range! The bottom of the range is kilometers from where you are right now!

How to Visualize (The 2-minute reset)

Step-by-step

  1. Sit quietly.
  2. Close your eyes.
  3. Don’t picture the end result (like the trophy); picture the feeling of doing the work with ease. Picture what it will feel like sitting in your creative space and writing. Picture what it will feel like getting up at 6am. Picture how it will feel walking around the block with the sunshine on your face and that winter breeze on your cheeks. Picture how it will feel while doing and afterwards working on that goal.
  4. Consider the intention done. You got this.

Handling the Pressure Spikes

When the worldly things start feeling heavy again, when the arguments with your kids start, when you discover you had to fly out the door, or when the news just seems determined to rock your world: Take a deep breath, revisit the mood board, adjust your intention, acknowledge the baby steps you have already done! One instance out of that range? YES! Squeezed in your walk when you thought your head would explode? YES! Stood in the bathroom and stared at your lock screen reminding yourself why you were doing? YES!

A Personal Reflection

This January has been quite a ride. Doing things differently than the way you have done them before can be scary, daunting, and exhilarating! Although there are things that did not go according to plan I can look at the things that turned out better than I expected!

This month I made five goals:

  1. How many times can I follow my bedtime routine? I did it 4 times and now I have my bottom range for next month!
  2. Lose 2kg during the month. I lost .5kg so I have some great range ideas for next month.
  3. Complete 4 weeks of blogs. I DID IT!! WHOOHOOOO
  4. How many times can I wake up between 5:30am and 6:30am. I did it 2 times and now I have my bottom range for next month!
  5. How many times can I do my morning yoga. I did it 5 times and now I have my bottom range for next month!
