The Concept

Give this tool a try! This is a super easy 5-minute morning grounding to help you step into yourself and clear the deck before the day gets loud! Why? Because grounding is an essential prerequisite for tapping into our intuition. A funny thing I read once really stuck with me:

You can’t hear your gut if the house is on fire.
– unknown

If your internal world is a blaze of “to-do” lists and yesterday’s stress, your inner compass doesn’t stand a chance.

The Routine

Minute 1: The Physical Check-In: Feet on the floor, noticing the weight of the body. What does it feel like in your right now? How does it feel to be in your own skin?

Minute 2-3: The Breath/Clearance: Simple box breathing to lower cortisol. Breath in for a count of five, hold for five, breath out for five, hold for five. Repeat.

Minute 4: The Internal Mirror: If you aren’t a tarot card holder, use this minute for a simple mental scan. Instead of pulling a card, pull a “feeling.” Ask yourself: “What is the one thing I am carrying right now that I can set down for the next hour?” If you do use tarot, this is your perfect minute to shuffle and pull one card for the day’s energy. Focus on the image and really feel the energy coming to you from the card.

Minute 5: The “One Word” Intent: Ask yourself, “What does my intuition need me to know today?” Listen for the very first word that pops up.

Closing Tip

Starting a new routine or habit takes time for it to stick! So be patient with yourself and give yourself a fighting chance to make this a new morning habit! Place these tips on a post-it or note and keep it by the bed or the yoga mat so there’s no “thinking” required. (Psst. Don’t forget to put your cards there too!)
