To the version of me sitting at the keyboard, feeling a little exposed today,
I want you to take a deep breath and listen to me: Keep Creating.
Whether you receive a standing ovation or total silence, the act of creation itself is what matters. The continued growth, the healing, and the absolute bravery it takes to address past traumas will always, always be worth it.
We talk a lot about being a “creator” in the digital world, but the truth is, everyone is a creator. We create our daily routines. We create our relationships. We are actively hand-crafting the reality of our world at every single moment of every single day.
But beautiful creation demands a toll. There is a Creator’s Price.
Leaving Pieces of Ourselves Behind
The price of creating an authentic life is that small pieces of our heart are naturally left within the work we do. To create something beautiful, you have to pay with your own currency: you pay with the nerves it takes to put your true voice out there, and you pay with the courage required to face the fear of judgement.
And when you shift intentionally into “Main Character” energy – choosing to face your past or your present head-on so you can move forward in a new way – life suddenly gains more colour. But it costs something. Each time you write, each time you show up, you are releasing a piece of your pain, your love, and your trauma. It feels fierce and empowering to use your circumstances to build something beautiful. But if you aren’t careful, leaving all those pieces of yourself behind can lead to burnout. The price demands that we ruthlessly carve out the time for self-care to recharge, ground, and get the mental boost we need to keep going.
The Ripple Effect
Is the price worth it? Absolutely.
With every piece you produce, you can feel the growth and the internal glow getting brighter. You create with the radical hope that a piece of your heart will reach another human being who needs that exact little spark today. It creates a ripple outward.
And the universe always drops the receipts when you need them most. The beautiful reward comes when a reader reaches out with an insight, or leaves a positive sprinkle from their own life on your page. It is the living proof that what you are doing really matters. It is a gentle reminder that you are valuable, capable, and a masterful creator.
No More Boxes
So, to the version of me who occasionally falters: It doesn’t matter what chaos is going on around you. What matters is what you are doing about it.
Your voice matters. The messy bits matter. The momentary regrets of voices raised, the laughter and smiles shared, and the past faced despite the fear – all of it belongs to you. Every single part of you is you.
Stop trying to put yourself into a neat little box. You cannot be contained. All of these scattered, beautiful, complicated parts woven together are exactly what make you who you are. Keep pouring your heart into the world. You are the architect, you are the artist, and the masterpiece is well underway.
