Laughing at yourself is a great skill to learn (and it is priceless.) It is a great tool to get through uncomfortable situations. But never be mean about it or make yourself doubt your capabilities. Back in the day I used to fall on the ice all the time and I would berate myself with negative talk and it would ruin my day. One day, I got some advice, “why don’t you laugh? Stupid things happen to everyone at the very least you will get to laugh.”

Our attitude and perception make a huge difference to how we take in life’s circumstances

It made a huge difference. Now I was laughing and looking for bruises with amusement. I would stub my toe and laugh while hopping around my room. I now make a comment to anyone that if I am going to fall on the ice I am going to do so with style! (How can anyone not take a moment to remember the wise words of Buzz Lightyear?) It isn’t as if we are not capable of something (such as walking) it is that these things happen.

Although it is a big change to make and at first I had to force the laughter; now it comes easily and automatically. It is a change I am so glad to have made and worth every second! So give it a shot. Laugh at yourself. Life is what we make it. Our attitude and perception make a huge difference to how we take in life’s circumstances. It will be worth it. I promise. <3

So fall with style on the ice, stub your toe and laugh, and chuckle as you turn your shirt right side out. You are fabulous! These moments are just there to remind us that even the universe has a sense of humour. By the way this idea is a great reminder when you have children because messes and disasters happen; the way you react leaves an impression on them that you have to keep in mind. So, get laughing, chuckling, and giggling.
