Summary

The experiences of renting on Air BNB are not what they seem in this thriller by Jeneva Rose. With narrators Andrew Eiden and Andi Arndt readers experience a real treat as a story of the relaxing wild countryside meets secrets and stories untold. Just when you think you have figured out the end goal and the whose whose of players just another twist will find you. An incredibly fast paced story that will keep the reader turning the pages late into the night. Calvin Wells is ruggedly handsome and deliciously outdoorsy that he is the perfect companion to compliment Grace Evans. Grace is the city bombshell full of all the temptations and yet sweetly naive to pique Calvin’s interest in a perfect match. But all is not what it seems.

Thoughts and Review

Normally I do not enjoy double voiced narratives but here in this audiobook version it worked beautifully. The narrators Andrew and Andi complimented one another so well while also capturing their respective characters wonderfully. They worked so well together that while listening to other chapters your mind could easily put in their voice in conversations with the other character. It was so fast paced that it was easy to forget about the other things on my mind and just enjoy the story. Any break away from it was time to look forward to going back to it. It is not what I would say as gory and more up the alley of psychological thriller and mystery. In this novel a story pregnant with secrets seems to be just waiting to pop open at any time with each new chapter leaving the reader to wonder if this was it. At the conclusion I speechlessly listened through the last chunk as I was just so delightfully surprised I didn’t know what to say. This was no where near the ending that I was expecting. At all.

Recommendation

If you are looking for a fast paced thrill ride from start to finish this could be the book for you. If you like me do not necessarily enjoy multiple narrators than I would suggest listening to this book in the audiobook version instead of reading the book. I found the contrasting narrators perfect for the alternating chapters as they complimented one another beautifully. This book had the rare gift of being incredibly fast paced with no lulls of boredom or waiting around. From one moment to the next riding along with each narrator a story unfolds that is anything like what you are expecting at all. One second you think it might be a boy meets girl classic, or a damsel in distress rescue, or even a romance with a stranger in their midst. All would be wrong. So if you are looking to stay up ridiculously late (while realizing that yes you are still that “one more chapter” person) reading this is the book for you. Just be careful if you are listening and baking/cooking… the twists and turns may put their own twists and turns into your recipe. Happy Reading!
