Book 7 of 2023

A summary

This is a domestic relationship themed thriller. A marriage that is not all that it seems reaches a breaking or making point. Will a tenth anniversary trip be just what they need or will it be the end in more ways than one? With the chapters alternating between Adam and Amelia they story forms a picture and narrative that will leave the pages turning and the reader guessing. What else could happen next?

Thoughts and Review

This novel made it onto my DNF list. I was listening to the audiobook by MacMillian books via my public library through Libby. With so much promise in the synopsis I was disappointed by my interpretation of the story. Try as I might I just could not get into this story at all. Just when I thought I might have picked a character to like they disappointed me to the point of disgust with them. The narrators of Adam and Amelia had very dynamic voices but their characters themselves did not live up to my expectations. To be honest the only reason I listened to the book as far as I did was due to the delightful creepy factor that made me really want to like the book. But life is too short to read books that you cannot get into so I put it down. My To Be Read List is simply too long to waste any time on any books that don’t catch my interests or curiosity.

Recommendation

From the reviews that I have read on goodreads people who enjoy other works by Alice Feeney loved the book. There was also a correlation with other readers who enjoy domestic relationship themed thrillers. I am not necessarily in that enjoyment category. If you are looking for an audiobook with very dynamic voices to listen to this could be a great find for you. From other readers comments they also found the story very suspenseful and exciting. However, keep in mind if you are not someone that enjoys multiple narrators this may not be the book for you. Happy Reading!
