When momentum feels soul, or when the day feels heavy, our internal dialogue has a habit of turning into a playground for our insecurities. To counter this, I’ve started keeping an Affirmation Pocket – a mental (and sometimes physical) space for a single, grounded truth.
The Power of a “Pocket Truth”
An affirmation doesn’t have to be a grand, “woo-woo” statement if that isn’t your vibe. It just needs to be a sturdy truth you can lean on when you’re tired. My favourites lately are:
- “I’m allowed to move at my own pace.”
- “Small progress is still permanent progress.”
- “I am exactly where I need to be to take the next step.”
- “I am enough. I am always enough. I am more than enough.”
- I turn challenges into opportunities.”
Carry It With You
I like to make these visible. A sticky note on the mirror where I do my morning routine, or a digital reminder on my phone. When that “I’m not doing enough” feeling creeps in, I reach into my “pocket” and pull out the truth.
Gentle momentum is about being at peace with the journey, even the parts where we feel like we’re just standing still in the sun, waiting to grow.
